Bridgette Showdown was invented in Bali, Indonesia in 1989 and developed over the next 15 years by noted game inventor, Joli Quentin Kansil, who created the classic game of Bridgette years before. 'JQK' was the protege of Albert H. Morehead, the first bridge editor of The New York Times - and the first of many famous Bridge players to endorse Bridgette. Among other famous players was all-around games expert Oswald Jacoby, who called Bridgette's originator 'the greatest combination game-inventor/game player in the world.' Bridgette was the first of 36 card-, word-, and board-games created by 'JQK'.

The all-plastic decks from Hong Kong have the 4 suits in 4 different colors. Crafted wooden 'suit chips' and dice are made in Thailand, and the dice cups and batik box for the game are made in Bali.
